NAGAON, India, July 15 (Xinhua) — Farmers have been busy planting rice seedlings in the paddy fields in Nagaon district of India’s northeastern state of Assam.

Rice is the most significant crop in Assam, occupying a remarkable planted area of 2.54 million hectares and accounting for about 96 percent of the state’s entire production of cereal grains.
