Australia exported 1.75 mln tons of wheat in October
Thai importers bought 60,000 tonnes of feed wheat at $235.9/t CIF for January 2026 delivery, pressuring regional feed prices amid ample Australian supply. Australia shipped 1.75 million tonnes of wheat in October 2025, down 7% month-on-month but up 55% year-on-year, with Vietnam, China and Indonesia key destinations.
Australia shipped 1.75 million tonnes of wheat (including durum) to international markets in October 2025, according to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
This volume is 7% lower than the 1.89 million tonnes in September, but 55% higher than the 1.13 million tonnes in October 2024.
Container Shipments
Exports in October totaled 193,690 tonnes. The largest destinations were:
- Vietnam — 44,640 tonnes
- China — 26,940 tonnes
- Indonesia — 26,260 tonnes
Bulk Shipments
Shipments reached 1.56 million tonnes. Main markets:
- Philippines — 364,260 tonnes
- Indonesia — 289,780 tonnes
- Republic of Korea — 195,680 tonnes
- Yemen — 160,620 tonnes
Estimates and forecasts
According to Lachstock Consulting, based on an analysis of port schedules, wheat exports in November were expected to be around 850,000 tonnes before the start of active shipments of the new crop. The arrival of fresh produce is estimated to bring the monthly figure to almost 2 million tonnes.
For the export year that began on October 1, Lachstock forecasts shipments of 23.92 million tonnes.
In its monthly WASDE report released on Tuesday, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) raised its forecast for Australian wheat exports by 1 million tonnes to 27 million tonnes.
