Avfuel brings sustainable aviation fuel to Sedona airport
Avfuel has partnered with Sedona-Oak Creek Airport Authority and Red Rock Aviation to introduce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at KSEZ, Arizona’s first SAF-capable airport. The inaugural 8,000-gallon SAF delivery, produced by Neste, arrived on June 5. SAF shipments will occur every tenth delivery, reducing carbon emissions by 19 metric tons each time. Airport manager Ed Rose highlighted SAF’s role in advancing Sedona Airport’s sustainability initiatives.
Avfuel, a supplier of aviation fuel, has partnered with the Sedona-Oak Creek Airport Authority (SOCAA) and FBO Red Rock Aviation to introduce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the airport. This development marks KSEZ Avfuel’s inaugural SAF-capable airport in Arizona. The SAF will cater to local and visiting general aviation aircraft, as well as support firefighting efforts in the region.
Avfuel has been the fuel provider for Red Rock Aviation since 2022. The first delivery of SAF, totaling 8,000 gallons and produced by Neste based in Long Beach, California, arrived at KSEZ on June 5. It is planned that SAF jet fuel shipments will occur every tenth delivery, approximately once every two months. Each truckload of this fuel is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 19 metric tons, equivalent to removing 4.5 passenger cars from the road for a year.
Ed Rose, the airport manager at SOCAA, expressed enthusiasm about integrating SAF into their expanding sustainability initiatives. He emphasized SAF as a secure, established, and sustainable blend of jet fuel that will enable Sedona Airport to contribute positively to reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions.
