Avolta–Kreol Group joint venture welcomes first biofuel-shipped container at Cochin Airport

INDIA. Alpha Kreol India, a joint venture between Avolta and Kreol Group, has welcomed the arrival of the first container shipped using biofuel at Cochin Airport Duty Free. This milestone contributes to enhanced sustainability in global logistics in the travel retail channel, said the partners.
As reported, Avolta and shipping company DB Schenker have entered a pioneering agreement to use biofuel for shipping routes from Europe to select locations, including Cochin in India.
This initiative aligns with Avolta, Alpha Kreol and Cochin Duty-Free’s commitment to reducing carbon footprints and promoting greener alternatives in the supply chain, noted the partners.
Alpha Kreol has managed Cochin Airport’s duty-free business since 2002. Cochin Airport is a leader in sustainability, setting a global precedent by using 100% solar energy for all of its operations.

This is a significant milestone towards sustainable logistics, leveraging waste-based marine biofuels to reduce emissions and set a new standard for low-emission transport solutions in India,” said DB Schenker India CEO Kinjal Pande.
