Balaghat collector fines ₹25k each on 5 rice millers
Jabalpur: The Balaghat district collector has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on five rice millers after it was found during physical inspection of stock at these millers that they had more paddy stored than that they procured in 2023-24 as per the online procurement portal.
A total of 9,295 quintals of paddy was found extra at five mills that were among those contracted for custom milling of paddy in Balaghat.
A total of 34 mills were inspected and in five of them, 9,295 quintals of additional paddy was found. Subsequently notices were served to them, to which they replied that due to some technical glitch the procured paddy could not be registered online, it was done later, said sources. Not finding the reply appropriate, district collector has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on all the five millers, added sources.
