Balmer Lawrie plans expansion into new business areas including ethanol production

Kolkata: Balmer Lawrie, a diversified PSU, plans to expand its business verticals within the next three years, as stated by a company official on Thursday. Presently, with a total revenue of around Rs 2,300 crore, the company operates across eight business verticals including industrial packaging, greases and lubricants, refinery and oilfield services, chemicals, logistics services, logistics infrastructure, cold chain, and travel and vacations, reported PTI.

CMD Adika Ratna Sekhar outlined the company’s expansion strategy, stating, “We are going to add more business units. These will be free trade warehousing zones (FTWZ), plug-and-play temperature-controlled warehouses, third-party logistics and ethanol production.” Shekhar disclosed plans to invest Rs 500 crore over the next two to three years to facilitate the entry into these new verticals.

“From the present revenue of Rs 2,300 crore, the target is to achieve Rs 6,000 crore in the coming three years,” Sekhar added.
