Bangladesh imports 10,850 tonnes more rice from India

A vessel named MV HT UNITE’ docked at the port with a fresh consignment of rice from India, as part of Bangladesh’s plan to import 5,00,000 tonnes via open tenders. So far, 4,50,000 tonnes have been contracted under nine packages, with 3,06,769 tonnes already received. Quality checks are done, and unloading has begun.

A vessel named MV HT UNITE’ carrying the consignment docked at the port, said a Ministry of Food media release.  

Earlier, Bangladesh decided to import 5,00,000 tonnes of rice from India through international open tenders.

Meanwhile, import contracts have been made to bring 4,50,000 tonnes of rice under nine packages.

Bangladesh has so far received 3,06,769 tonnes of rice from India as per the deals.

The quality testing of the newly arrived rice has been completed, and necessary measures have been taken to begin unloading operations promptly, reads the release.
