Bangladesh issues another tender to buy 50,000 tons of rice

Bangladesh has issued a new tender to buy 50,000 tonnes of non-basmati parboiled rice, with price offers due December 15. This follows multiple recent tenders as the government boosts supplies amid rising domestic prices. Shipment to Chittagong and Mongla is required within 40 days, excluding Israeli origin.

HAMBURG: Bangladesh’s state grains buyer has issued another international tender to purchase 50,000 metric tons of rice, European traders said on Monday.

The deadline for the submission of price offers is December 15. Bangladesh has also issued two separate tenders seeking 50,000 tons of rice with price offers to be submitted on December 1 and December 9 following other previous tenders in November.

Bangladesh’s government has issued a series of rice tenders in recent months to improve local supplies. Domestic rice prices in Bangladesh have risen over the past year despite a good harvest, leaving consumers struggling.

The new tender again seeks price offers for non-basmati parboiled rice in CIF liner out terms, which involve ship unloading costs for the seller.

Price offers in the tender must remain valid until December 29. Shipment is sought to the ports of Chittagong and Mongla 40 days after contract award. The rice can come from worldwide origins except Israel.
