Bangladesh to revive state-owned sugar mills
Dhaka: S. Alam & Co. has partnered with the government to boost sugarcane production and modernize sugar mills with BSFIC and the Ministry of Industries. Projects include advanced production techniques, new processing factories, 6 MW power co-generation, agro-voltaic solar plants, by-product-based plants, cold storage, and a packaging factory. The MoU signing was attended by Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and other key officials.
Dhaka: S. Alam & Co., a prominent industrial group in Bangladesh, has partnered with the government to enhance sugarcane production and modernize sugar mills, aiming to ensure profitability in the sugar industry..
The program is going to be implemented in association with the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, BSFIC, and the Ministry of Industries.
The projects encompass improved sugarcane production and farmer training through technology, the construction of modern sugarcane processing factories, 6 MW power co-generation, the development of agro-voltaic solar power plants, the establishment of by-product-based plants, the development of cold storage and agro-processing industries, and the construction of a packaging factory.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony for this initiative was attended by Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun. Also present were Senior Secretary Zakia Sultana, S M Alam, Additional Secretary (State-Owned Corporation), Md Shamimul Haque, Additional Secretary (Planning) from the Ministry of Industries, and Nagib Mahfuz, Manager, Technical Service, SS Power I Limited, representing S. Alam & Co., among others.
