Bhimashankar Sugar Factory Wins Vasantdada Patil Award for Best Cooperative Sugar Mill


The Bhimashankar Cooperative Sugar Factory in Pune’s Ambegaon Taluka has won the prestigious Vasantdada Patil Award for India’s best cooperative sugar factory. The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) announced the winners, with Maharashtra leading with 10 awards. Union Minister Amit Shah will present the awards at an upcoming ceremony.
Pune: The Bhimashankar Cooperative Sugar Factory in Ambegaon Taluka, Pune, has been honored with the prestigious Vasantdada Patil Award for the best cooperative sugar factory in India.
The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) announced the award recipients during a press conference on Saturday (March 22). The declaration was made by Harshavardhan Patil, President of NFCSF, in the presence of Managing Director Prakash Naiknavare. The awards will be officially presented by Union Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah at an upcoming ceremony.
Recognition for Excellence in Sugarcane Productivity
In addition to Bhimashankar Sugar Factory’s recognition, awards were also announced in the Best Sugarcane Productivity category:
- Vighnahar Cooperative Sugar Factory in Junnar Taluka, Maharashtra, won the First Prize.
- Kranti Agrani Dr. G.D. Bapu Lad Shetkari Cooperative Sugar Factory in Sangli, Maharashtra, secured the Second Prize.
- Shri Mahuva Pradesh Cooperative Sugar Industry in Surat, Gujarat, received the Third Prize.
Maharashtra Leads in National Sugar Awards
A total of 25 awards were distributed across various states, with Maharashtra securing the highest number of wins (10 awards). Other winning states included:
- Tamil Nadu – 5 awards
- Uttar Pradesh – 4 awards
- Gujarat – 3 awards
- Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh – 1 award each
