The Bihar government has announced compensation for farmers facing wheat crop losses due to fire. Farmers with over 33% crop loss, including standing and harvested crops, are eligible. Compensation rates are ₹8,500 per hectare for rain-fed land and ₹17,000 per hectare for irrigated land. Farmers must report losses to Panchayat-level coordinators for verification and processing.

Big news on wheat: Patna: The government has recently given a big relief to those farmers who were facing huge losses due to fire in wheat crops. Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said that the government will compensate those farmers whose wheat crop has been destroyed due to fire. Compensation will be given to those farmers who have suffered more than 33 percent loss. This may include crops that are still standing in the field or those that have been harvested and kept in barns.

You can get compensation of Rs 17,000 per hectare.
Agrawal said that the Disaster Management Department will provide compensation of Rs 8,500 per hectare for land dependent on rain water for irrigation and Rs 17,000 per hectare for land with assured irrigation facility. Sanjay Kumar Agrawal further said that the officials of Panchayat, Block, Circle Office have been informed about this. What farmers have to do If the wheat crop is destroyed by fire, the farmer will have to immediately inform the Panchayat level coordinator. After inspection, the report of damage will be submitted to the Block Agriculture Officer, Circle Officer. After this, the officials will guide the farmers to get compensation from the Disaster Management Department. Agrawal said that information has been received from some districts about damage to wheat crop due to fire. He has also issued general guidelines to farmers to prevent incidents of fire that damage the wheat crop.
