Bihar Govt Pushes Fortified Rice Awareness, Dealers To Conduct Door-to-Door Campaign In Phulwaria

A meeting led by Block Supply Inspector Srinivas Sharma in Bihar’s Gopalganj urged dealers to promote fortified rice benefits through door-to-door campaigns. Fortified rice, enriched with folic acid, iron, and vitamin B12, supports all age groups. Dealers were trained on proper storage and tasked with educating 20–25 beneficiaries each to dispel myths and boost awareness.
A meeting of block dealers was held on Thursday at the Phulwaria Block Office auditorium, chaired by Block Supply Inspector Srinivas Sharma in Bihar’s Gopalganj. The session focused on raising awareness about fortified rice and its quality. The MO instructed all dealers to conduct door-to-door visits in their respective areas to educate people about the benefits of fortified rice.
During the training, the MO explained that fortified rice is blended with the rice distributed by the government as part of the public food distribution system. Each sack contains half a kilogram of fortified rice, which is enriched with folic acid, vitamin B12, iron, and other essential nutrients.
It is particularly beneficial for children, women, the elderly, and people of all ages. The dealers were tasked with spreading awareness about fortified rice among 20 to 25 food grain beneficiaries and other villagers in their designated areas to dispel any misconceptions about it.
Office Assistant Abhishek Mishra provided guidance on the proper storage, maintenance, and distribution of food grains. He advised dealers to store food grains on plastic sheets in their warehouses to prevent moisture absorption from the ground, as excessive moisture could reduce the nutritional value of fortified rice. The meeting was attended by Safdar Imam, Aftab Alam, Ujjain Kunwar, and all the dealers from the region.
