Bihar : Sugarcane prices raised by Rs15 per quintal in state

Sugarcane prices in Bihar for the 2025–26 season have risen by Rs15 per quintal. Super, general and low grades will fetch Rs380, Rs360 and Rs330 respectively at mill gates, following a BISMA–government meeting in Patna.

Patna: The prices of three grades of sugar cane sold by growers at the gates of sugar mills for crushing during the 2025-26 season have been increased by Rs 15 per quintal compared with the previous season.According to the revised rates, cane growers will be paid Rs 380 per quintal for the super grade variety, Rs 360 per quintal for the general grade variety and Rs 330 per quintal for the low-grade variety.

The decision was taken at a meeting between a delegation of the Bihar Industries and Sugar Mills Association (BISMA) and cane industry minister Sanjay Kumar on Thursday, BISMA secretary Naresh said. The meeting was also attended by the department’s additional chief secretary, the cane commissioner and other senior officials.However, the price of cane sold at sale and purchase centres located outside the mill gates will be Rs 20 per quintal lower than the rates fixed at the mill doors, the BISMA communiqué said. It was also decided that the commission rate of the regional development council would be 0.20 % of the total sale price of the cane sold by farmers.The BISMA secretary appealed to cane growers to supply only clean and rootless cane stalks, stating that this would be in the interest of all stakeholders.
