Bihar : Upto 70% subsidy for these farmers, a big announcement has been made

The Bihar government has announced a subsidy of up to 70% for sugarcane farmers on machinery purchases to enhance farming efficiency. Farmers can apply online via the sugarcane department portal. Joint Cane Commissioner JPN Singh, during his visit to Gopalganj, highlighted the scheme’s benefits. The government aims to boost productivity and streamline payments through this initiative.

Government Subsidy: Significant developments have emerged for sugarcane farmers in Bihar. The state government has declared a substantial subsidy of up to 70 percent for these farmers on the acquisition of machinery and equipment aimed at facilitating more efficient farming practices. Farmers are encouraged to submit their applications online through the portal established by the sugarcane department.

Discussions with the farmers

Joint Cane Commissioner JPN Singh visited Gopalganj from Patna today, where he inspected the stall set up under the sugarcane mechanization initiative at the Vishnu Sugar Mill in Harkhua. During his visit, he engaged in discussions with the farmers. Joint Sugarcane Commissioner Jaiprakash Narayan Singh emphasized that the Bihar government is providing a subsidy of up to 70 percent on farming machinery to enhance the productivity of sugarcane crops.

Three groups for this purpose

The department has organized three groups for this purpose. In the first group, sugarcane farmers can receive a subsidy of up to 50 percent on a total of 11 different machines. Additionally, various sugarcane machinery has been included in the second and third groups, for which the government will offer subsidies of up to 70 percent. For instance, the cost of certain sugarcane cultivation machines can reach approximately 1 crore 30 lakhs, allowing farmers to benefit from a subsidy of up to Rs 90 lakh.

The Joint Cane Commissioner noted that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced an additional payment of Rs 10 to farmers as part of the fixed sugarcane price during the Pragati Yatra in Bagaha and Gopalganj. As of December 2024, data for 1 lakh 39 thousand farmers has been uploaded to the portal, with the increased payments already disbursed to 39,000 farmers.

He urged other farmers whose information is not yet available in the CFM system to visit their respective sugar mills or the sugarcane department to apply, providing their Aadhaar number, date of birth certificate, and address pin code, to ensure timely receipt of their payments.
