BiofuelCircle expanding its reach into rural India to build sustainable biomass aggregation infrastructure
BiofuelCircle is expanding its rural operations in India, increasing warehouses from 15 to 35 across key states. With a Rs 75 crore investment plan for FY 2024-25, the company aims to streamline biomass collection and support rural entrepreneurship. Its efforts include combating stubble burning and promoting sustainable practices, connecting 70,000 farmers to biomass markets and fostering a circular economy.
BiofuelCircle, a prominent digital platform in the bioenergy supply chain, is expanding its operations into rural India to establish sustainable biomass aggregation infrastructure. The company plans to increase its rural warehouses from 15 to 35 in key agricultural states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. Utilizing a mobile platform with GPS and telematics-based applications, BiofuelCircle aims to enhance rural biomass businesses. This expansion, which envisions a total investment of Rs 75 crore in FY 2024-25, is designed to streamline biomass collection and boost rural entrepreneurship. The company recently completed an equity round raising Rs 45 crore, led by Spectrum Impact, and has secured a term loan agreement with Jio Finance for the remaining investment. reported Agro Spectrum.
This initiative also addresses the issue of paddy stubble burning in India, following the launch of BiofuelCircle’s ‘Parali Se Ujjawal Bhavishya’ program in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. The program has introduced over 40 advanced, digitally integrated machines to collect and process stubble, preventing around 30,000 metric tonnes of agricultural residue from being burned across 25,000 acres. The Ramnagar Biomass Bank™ will benefit more than 5,000 farmers in 30 villages.

The company’s model fosters rural entrepreneurship by collaborating with over 1,000 tractor-driving rural partners. Biomass aggregation is expected to increase from 232,000 MT in FY 2023-24 to over 800,000 MT by FY 2024-25. BiofuelCircle aims to operate in 10 states by March 2025.
