Brazil considers cutting ethanol import tax in nod to Trump, report says

Brazil is considering reducing ethanol import taxes, potentially benefiting U.S. exports and aiding inflation control. Vice President Geraldo Alckmin was expected to discuss tariffs with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Brazil’s government is considering cutting import taxes on ethanol in a nod to US President Donald Trump and as a way to help tame inflation, newspaper O Globo reported on Friday, citing sources.

Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin was reportedly set to have a call with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Friday to discuss tariffs.
