Brazil: Ethanol producer Inpasa to invest around R$3.5bn in biorefinery projects
Inpasa plans to invest 3.5 billion reais in Brazil, building a new Rondonopolis biorefinery and expanding Nova Mutum. The new plant will process 2 million tons of grain annually, producing 1 billion liters of ethanol by 2027, while Nova Mutum’s output will rise to 1.4 billion liters by end-2026.
Ethanol producer Inpasa announced on Thursday plans to invest around 3.5 billion reais in Brazil, allocating funds to construct a new biorefinery and expand an existing operation in the state of Mato Grosso.
According to a company statement, 2.77 billion reais will be invested in a new facility in Rondonopolis, which is scheduled to begin operations in early 2027. The unit is expected to process 2 million metric tons of grains annually, producing 1 billion liters of ethanol, reported Reuters.
Inpasa will also invest 704 million reais to expand its Nova Mutum unit, increasing annual grain processing capacity by 1 million tons. The expansion is set to lift ethanol production at the site to 1.4 billion liters by the end of 2026.
“This announcement represents another decisive step in consolidating the company as Latin America’s largest grain-based ethanol biorefinery,” said Inpasa head Eder Odvar Lopes.
Inpasa currently operates seven facilities across Brazil and Paraguay and is building two additional plants in the Brazilian states of Bahia and Goias.
