Brazil sugarcane crushing down 11% in early July, UNICA says


SAO PAULO, July 25 (Reuters) -Sugarcane crushing in the Brazil’s key center-south region reached 43.17 million metric tons in the first half of July, down 11% year-on-year as rains affected work in the fields, industry group UNICA said on Thursday.
UNICA said in a report that sugar production in the period totaled 2.94 million tons, a 9.7% drop on a yearly basis, while total ethanol output fell 6.3% to 2.12 billion liters.
