Brazil’s wheat imports hit a 12-year high

Low global wheat prices and ample supply have contributed to an increase in Brazil’s wheat imports in 2025. According to Brazil’s Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX), they reached 6.894 million tons, up 3.7% from 2024 and the highest level since 2013.

In December, when wheat prices were at their lowest since March 2020, Brazil imported 698,740 tons, the highest December figure since 2016.
