Cane cultivation management would boost the lives of farmers

A special lecture on Sugarcane Production Management was held at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, in collaboration with IradaTech Foundation. Dr. Archana Sirari from the Sugarcane Research Institute discussed cultivation techniques and cost-effective methods for better yields in Purvanchal. Dr. Vinay Kumar Mishra and Dr. V.P. Bharti raised awareness on pest and disease management. The event emphasized improving production to enhance farmers’ livelihoods.

Gorakhpur: A special lecture on Sugarcane Production Management was organized on Wednesday at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, in collaboration with IradaTech Foundation, reports Live Hindustan.

Dr Archana Sirari, Senior Scientific Officer at the Sugarcane Research Institute, Seorahi, discussed techniques for sugarcane cultivation, cost-effective methods for higher yields, and suitable sugarcane varieties for the Purvanchal region. She emphasized that improved sugarcane production management could enhance the living standards of farmers in the region.

Dr. Vinay Kumar Mishra, an entomologist from the Sugarcane Research Institute, highlighted various pests affecting sugarcane and the damage they cause. Dr. V.P. Bharti, Head of the Plant Pathology Department at the institute, raised awareness about pest management in sugarcane farming.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Professor Sharad Kumar Mishra, Director of the Agriculture Department, noted that Purvanchal is renowned for sugarcane cultivation. He stated that better production management could help increase farmers’ income.

The event was conducted by Dr Saroj Chauhan, while Dr Nupur Singh delivered the vote of thanks. Among those present were Dr Nikhil Raghuvanshi, Dr Talha Ansari, Dr Saurabh Singh, Dr Gyan Prakash Singh, Dr Ritesh Kumar, Dr Tanveer, and Dr Monalisa.
