China’s soybean oil exports have more than tripled.
China’s soybean oil exports surged in October–December 2025, with contracts reaching 200,000 tons versus 61,000 tons a year earlier. October shipments totaled 71,000 tons, including 46,000 tons to India. Exports may reach 450,000 tons in 2025, slightly above last year, as China shifts from buyer to supplier while India’s imports hit a three-year high.
In October-December 2025, China contracted to export up to 200 thousand tons of soybean oil, compared to only 61 thousand tons in the same period a year earlier, analysts from Oil World (Germany) report.
Specifically, in October, the country exported 71,000 tons of the product, more than half of which—46,000 tons—went to India. Shipments to India are planned to continue until the end of this year, the agency notes.
Taking into account the contracted export volumes from China in 2025, soybean oil exports could reach 450 thousand tons, which is 12 thousand tons more than the previous year’s result.
It was previously reported that China had transitioned from a buyer to a supplier of soybean oil. Meanwhile, India’s imports reached a three-year high. This season’s imports are expected to exceed last year’s record of 5.47 million tons.
