Croatia expects 17.3% drop in 2024 maize harvest
Croatia’s will produce an estimated 1.647 million tonnes of maize this year, down from 1.991 million tonnes harvested in 2023, the statistical office said on Monday.
The country’s output of sugar beet is expected to fell by 12% on the year to 440,000 tonnes in 2024, while the production of soybean is forecast to rise 12.7% to 240,000 tonnes, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said in its first estimate of crop harvesting for 2024 based on data as of September 1.

The country expects to harvest 155,000 tonnes of sunflower this year, down 1.9% from 2023.
Production of soft and hard wheat (winter, spring and seed) in Croatia rose by an estimated annual 2.2% in the crop year 2024, to some 840,000 tonnes, the statistical office said last month in a first estimate of production of cereals as of end-August.
