Croatia’s wheat sowing area up 4.3% in 2025


Croatia increased its soft wheat sowing area by 4.3% in 2025 to 146,000 hectares, while maize sowing rose 0.7% to 274,000 hectares, according to the national statistics office. Sunflower seed area expanded significantly by 11.7% to 67,000 hectares. However, sugar beet sowing dropped sharply by 22.2% to 7,000 hectares, reflecting shifts in crop preferences and market trends.
July 1 (SeeNews) – The area sown with soft wheat (winter, spring seed and durum) in Croatia this year rose by 4.3% to compared to 2024, to 146,000 hectares, the statistical office said.
The area put to maize (mercantile and seed) increased by 0.7% year-on-year to 274,000 hectares in 2025, the statistical office said in a report on Monday, quoting first estimates of areas sown with cereals and oilseeds by June 1.
Croatia has dedicated 67,000 hectares to sunflower seed in 2025, up 11.7% year-on-year, while the area sown with sugar beet fell by 22.2% to 7,000 hectares.
