Cycle 5: Know feedstock-wise allocation for Q4 ESY 2024-25

New Delhi: Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have allocated the entire 49 crore litres of ethanol tendered for Q4 (August–October 2025) under Ethanol Supply Year 2024-25. Maize led with 38.13 crore litres, followed by damaged food grains (5.74 crore) and surplus FCI rice (3.60 crore). Smaller shares came from molasses and sugarcane juice.

The Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) invited a tender for around 49 crore litres of ethanol for Q4 (August – October 2025) of Ethanol Supply Year 2024-25. Now, the allocation has been completed, matching the quantity initially tendered.

Maize emerged as the key feedstock, accounting for the large share of the supply.

Feedstock-wise allocation details
The ethanol comes from different raw materials called feedstocks. Here is a simple breakdown of how much was allocated for each:

Maize: This feedstock received the largest share, with 381,262 KL allocated, amounting to 38.13 crore litres.

Damaged Food Grains (DFG): Allocations for damaged food grains totaled 57,381 KL, or 5.74 crore litres.

Surplus FCI Rice (SFG): Surplus rice from the Food Corporation of India was allocated 36,019 KL, equivalent to 3.60 crore litres.

B-Heavy Molasses (BHM): B-Heavy molasses received 11,921 KL, translating to 1.19 crore litres.

C-Heavy Molasses (CHM): Allocations for C-Heavy molasses came to 4,181 KL, or 0.42 crore litres.

Sugarcane Juice (SCJ): The smallest allocation went to sugarcane juice, with 2,488 KL, equivalent to 0.25 crore litres.

In order to boost the ethanol production and ensure that new and upcoming distilleries get secure offtake, the tender of cycle 5 was floated.
