Kolhapur: Kolhapur district collector Amol Yedge has announced plans to create a database for sugarcane cutters arriving for the harvesting season, which starts around Nov15 and lasts three to four months. He instructed local sugar mills to gather details such as names, contact numbers, Aadhar numbers, age, and gender of the workers.”Identity cards will be provided to the sugarcane cutters, along with medical check-ups, necessary medicines, and ration”, Yegde said.

He also asked the mills to establish Balsanskar Gruha—temporary schools—for their children. “The kids are provided with an Education Guarantee Card by the administration from their native place,” he added.
