Agriculture Success Story: During the lockdown, there was a huge loss in agriculture. The sales system collapsed. At the same time, some opportunities also arose. During this period, the farmers of Aher Vadgaon area of Beed district

Attempts were made to sell agricultural products directly to consumers. They succeeded. It strengthened the confidence that we can create a market for our goods. 8 to 10 like-minded young farmer friends like Bappa Taware of Aher Vadgaon, Ramprasad Ghuge of Vadwani got together at that time.

He was advised by the District Superintendent of Agriculture of Beed to set up a farmer company. In October 2021, the Agriculture Emperor Agro Industry Producer Company (Samnapur) was established.

Datta Jagannath Shinde, Rahul Arjunrao Gore, Bappasaheb Narayan Tavere Aher, Eknath Srihari Gore, Suhas Mohanrao Ubale Charatha were the principal directors of the company, while Ramprasad Ghuge, Santaram Padule, Rajaram Shinde, Machhindra Kappe, Vitthal Chavan were included as promoters.

Initial efforts

The director connected innovative and promising farmers with his company. But instead of increasing the number, he emphasized on expanding the company by adding skilled farmers. It was seen that all would remain committed to the same ideas. Considering the demand and trends in the market, it was noticed that there is a demand for wood based oils.

Products are fixed accordingly. 30 thousand each and other 20 members started raising as much capital as possible to set up the processing unit.

From that, the amount stood up to five lakhs. It brought a wooden rotary worth about three lakh rupees to Telghana from Coimbatore before Dussehra in 2021. After testing it, actual oil production started from January 2022.

Crop planning for oil production

After buying the oil mill, they started producing oil by taking safflower, groundnut, sesame, linseed, coconut, sunflower etc. from the market with the remaining money. Only 30 members of the company decided to purchase and use five liters of oil each for the first time. Therefore, a demand of around 150 liters was recorded.

The benefit was that confidence was created among the members of the company about the quality of our oil. It was not possible to depend only on imported raw materials. Therefore, cultivation of groundnut, safflower, sunflower, sesame, linseed etc. started by the members on an area of one to two acres or more.

The saffron seeds were provided by the Agriculture Department. A total of 10 acres yielded about five tons of its produce. In Rabi 2022, four to five farmers produced 6 to 7 quintals of sunflower per acre and provided up to three tonnes of raw material. The efforts of the directors of ‘Sheti Samrat’ are going on to produce all kinds of raw materials in sufficient quantity. For that, the directors of the company have decided to double the area of related crops.

Increased demand for oil

The demand for oil which started from the demand of 150 liters from members’ houses has now reached to 1200 to 1500 liters per month. It includes groundnut 300 to 350 litres, sorghum 250 to 300 litres, sunflower 200 to 225 litres, coconut and sesame 25 to 30 liters each, linseed and mustard 10 to 20 liters each.

Consumption by members of the company, followed by their circle of associates, has helped ‘marketing’ the oil through word of mouth publicity. Non-members are charged Rs.20 per kg for de-oiling their agricultural produce.

promising turnover

Mall in Beed city, cities like Pune, Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar etc., the director of Agriculture Samrat works to deliver oil as per demand to his friends and acquaintances. What is special is that no distributor has been appointed yet and sales are being made directly to consumers.

At present, sorghum, groundnut, one ton each, sunflower eight quintals and other 30 to 50 kg are required as raw materials. The price of oil per liter is Rs 350 for sorghum, Rs 280 for groundnut, Rs 300 for sunflower, Rs 400 for linseed and Rs 450 for mustard.

The turnover is up to three and a half lakhs per month, and the company has set this target up to 30 lakhs in the future. All necessary licenses for oil sales have been obtained. A dialogue is going on to increase the demand for oil through the corporate lobby. It is proposed to purchase godowns and pod crushing machines from the National Food Security Scheme in the coming period.
