Egypt has procured 1.7 mln tonnes of wheat from local farmers

Egypt has bought 1.7 million tonnes of wheat from farmers since its harvest began in mid-April, the supply ministry said on Monday.

CAIRO, May 15 (Reuters) – Egypt has bought 1.7 million tonnes of wheat from farmers since its harvest began in mid-April, the supply ministry said on Monday.

Supply Minister Ali Moselhy has said he expects to buy about 3.8 million tonnes of wheat from local farmers during the harvest, which runs through July.
