Egypt’s Ministry of Supply has announced plans to double the edible oil storage capacity at the Alexandria port, increasing it from the current 75,000 tons to 150,000 tons. This initiative aims to bolster the country’s food security and ensure stable supplies of vegetable oil, a critical commodity for the Egyptian market.
The project involves upgrading and expanding existing storage facilities in the Alexandria port complex, one of Egypt’s primary logistical hubs. The expansion is expected to enhance the management of oil imports and distribution, reducing reliance on global market fluctuations.
According to ministry officials, work on the expansion will begin soon, with completion targeted for 2026. The project will be funded through state investments and international partnerships.
