EIA: Ethanol production down 3%, stocks up slightly, exports down 15%

U.S. fuel ethanol production dropped by 3% to 1.049 million barrels per day for the week ending Sept. 13, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Ethanol stocks slightly increased to 23.785 million barrels, while exports fell nearly 15%, averaging 151,000 barrels per day. Despite the weekly decline, both production and exports were higher compared to the same week last year.

U.S. fuel ethanol production was down 3% the week ending Sept. 13, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Sept. 18. Ethanol stocks were up slightly while exports were down nearly 15%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.049 million barrels per day the week ending Sept. 13, down 31,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.08 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the week of last year, production for the week ending Sept. 13 was up 69,000 barrels per day. 

Stocks of fuel ethanol expanded to 23.785 million barrels the week ending Sept. 13, up 71,000 barrels when compared to the 23.714 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Sept. 13 were up 2.104 million barrels.

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 151,000 barrels per day the week ending Sept. 13, down 26,000 barrels per day when compared to the 177,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Sept. 13 were up 42,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending Sept. 13.
