EIA: Ethanol production down slightly, stocks up 5%, exports down 17%

U.S. fuel ethanol production dipped slightly to 1.081 million barrels per day for the week ending Feb. 21, down 3,000 barrels from the previous week. Stocks rose 5% to 27.571 million barrels, the highest level since April 2020. Exports fell 17% to 115,000 barrels per day, while no imports were reported.

U.S. fuel ethanol production was down slightly the week ending Feb. 21, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Feb. 26. Stocks of fuel ethanol were up 5% and exports were down 17%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.081 million barrels per day the week ending Feb. 21, down 3,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.084 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending Feb. 21 was up 3,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol reached 27.571 million barrels the week ending Feb. 21, up 1.353 million barrels when compared to the 26.218 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week and the highest level of stocks reported since April 2020. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Feb. 21 were up 1.549 million barrels. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 115,000 barrels per day the week ending Feb. 21, down 23,000 barrels per day when compared to the 138,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Feb. 21 were up 38,000 barrels per day. No imports of fuel ethanol were reported for the week ending Feb. 21.
