EIA: Ethanol production up 1%, stocks down 3%, exports down 62%

U.S. fuel ethanol production rose 1% to 1.063 million barrels per day for the week ending March 28. Stocks declined 3% to 26.612 million barrels, while exports plunged 62% to 62,000 barrels per day. No ethanol imports were reported. Despite the weekly drop, ethanol stocks remain 561,000 barrels higher than the same period last year.

U.S. fuel ethanol production was up 1% the week ending March 28, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on April 2. Stocks of fuel ethanol were down 3% and exports were down 62%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.063 million barrels per day the week ending March 28, up 10,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.053 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending March 28 was up 6,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 26.612 million barrels the week ending March 28, down 738,000 barrels when compared to the 27.35 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending March 28 were up 561,000 barrels. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 62,000 barrels per day the week ending March 28, down 102,000 barrels per day when compared to the 164,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending March 28 were down 50,000 barrels per day. No imports of fuel ethanol were reported for the week ending March 28.
