EIA: Ethanol production up 2%, stocks down slightly, exports up 17%

On October 2, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that U.S. fuel ethanol production rose by 2% during the week ending September 27, 2024, averaging 1.015 million barrels per day, an increase of 21,000 barrels compared to the previous week. Ethanol stocks slightly declined to 23.459 million barrels, while ethanol exports grew by 17%, reaching 102,000 barrels per day. However, exports were down compared to the same week last year.

U.S. fuel ethanol production expanded by 2% the week ending Sept. 27, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Oct. 2. Stocks of fuel ethanol were down slightly, and exports were up 17%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.015 million barrels per day the week ending Sept. 27, up 21,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.015 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the weekly ending Sept. 27 was up 6,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 23.459 million barrels the week ending Sept. 27, down 65,000 barrels when compared to the 23.524 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Sept. 27 were up 1.572 million barrels. 

Fuel ethanol exports averaged 102,000 barrels per day the week ending Sept. 27, up 15,000 barrels per day when compared to the 87,000 barrels per day of imports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Sept. 27 were down 20,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol exports were reported for the week ending Sept. 27.
