EIA: Ethanol production up slightly, stocks up 3%, exports up 35%

U.S. fuel ethanol production rose slightly to 1.099 million barrels per day for the week ending Jan. 17, up 4,000 barrels from the previous week. Ethanol stocks increased by over 3% to 25.874 million barrels, while exports surged 35% to 169,000 barrels per day. No ethanol imports were recorded for the week.

U.S. fuel ethanol production was up slightly the week ending Jan. 17, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Jan. 23. Ethanol stocks were up more than 3% and exports were up 35%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.099 million barrels per day the week ending Jan. 17, up 4,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.095 million barrels of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending Jan. 17 was up 281,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol reached 25.874 million barrels the week ending Jan. 17, up 866,000 barrels when compared to the 25.008 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Jan. 17 were up 59,000 barrels. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 169,000 barrels per day the week ending Jan. 17, up 44,000 barrels per day when compared to the 125,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Jan. 17 were up 48,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending Jan. 17.
