EIA weekly data: Ethanol production down 3%, stocks up 1%, exports down 12%

U.S. fuel ethanol production fell nearly 3% to 993,000 barrels per day for the week ending May 9, according to the EIA. Stocks rose 1% to 25.445 million barrels, while exports dropped 12% to 114,000 barrels per day. Despite the weekly decline, production and exports remained higher than the same period last year. No ethanol imports were recorded.

U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by nearly 3% the week ending May 9, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on May 14. Stocks of fuel ethanol were up 1% and exports were down 12%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 993,000 barrels per day the week ending May 9, down 27,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.02 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending May 9 was up 7,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol expanded to 25.445 million barrels the week ending May 9, up 254,000 barrels when compared to the 25.191 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending May 9 were up 956,000 barrels per day. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 114,000 barrels per day the week ending May 9, down 15,000 barrels per day when compared to the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending May 9 were up 22,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending May 9.
