EIA weekly data: Ethanol production down 3%, stocks up 1%, exports up 15%

U.S. fuel ethanol production fell 3% to 1.095 million barrels per day in the week ending Dec. 19, while stocks rose 1% to 22.53 million barrels. Exports increased 15% to 219,000 barrels per day. Output and inventories remained below year-ago levels, and no imports were recorded.

U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by 3% the week ending Dec. 19, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Dec. 29. Stocks of fuel ethanol expanded by 1% and exports were up 15%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.095 million barrels per day the week ending Dec. 19, down 36,000 barrels per day when compared to the record-setting 1.131 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending Dec. 19 was down 12,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol reached 22.528 million barrels per day the week ending Dec. 19, up 175,000 barrels when compared to the 22.353 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Dec. 19 were down 546,000 barrels per day. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 219,000 barrels per day the week ending Dec. 19, up 28,000 barrels per day when compared to the 191,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Dec. 19 were up 53,000 barrels per day. No imports of fuel ethanol were reported for the week ending Dec. 19.
