EIA weekly data: Ethanol production up 2%, stocks down 3%, exports down 30%

U.S. fuel ethanol production rose 2% to 1.056 million barrels per day in the week ending May 23, according to the EIA. Weekly stocks dropped 3% to 24.281 million barrels, while exports declined 30% to 66,000 barrels per day. Year-over-year, production was slightly lower, while stocks increased and exports fell significantly. No imports were reported.

U.S. fuel ethanol production was up 2% the week ending May 23, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on May 29. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol were down 3% and exports were down 30%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.056 million barrels per day the week ending May 23, up 20,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.036 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending May 23 was down 12,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 24.281 million barrels the week ending May 23, down 663,000 barrels when compared to the 24.944 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending May 23 were up 1.074 million barrels. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 66,000 barrels per day the week ending May 23, down 28,000 barrels per day when compared to the 94,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending May 23 were down 146,000 barrels per day. There were no imports of fuel ethanol reported for the week ending May 23.
