Energetika Maribor starts construction of $4.9 million wood-biomass boiler house
Energetika Maribor, a Slovenian state-owned energy company, has started constructing a €4.5 million wood-biomass boiler house to supply heat to Maribor municipality. Supported by a €1.3 million grant from the Slovenian environment ministry, the facility will use wood chips as fuel and is expected to be completed by February 2025, serving approximately 13,800 residents.
Energetika Maribor, a Slovenian state-owned energy company, announced on Thursday the commencement of construction for a 4.5 million euro ($4.9 million) wood-biomass boiler house at its headquarters. This facility will provide heat to the district heating system of Maribor municipality, reported SeeNews.
The company stated that it received a 1.3 million euro grant from the Slovenian environment ministry to support the construction of the boiler house, which is expected to supply heat to approximately 13,800 residents.
Energetika Maribor specified that the boiler house will utilize wood chips as its fuel source, with construction slated for completion by February 2025.
Energetika Maribor serves as the primary producer and distributor of thermal energy, managing the centralized heating system for the entire municipality of Maribor.
