Ethanol boost: Uttam Distilleries to expand distillery capacity to 160 KLPD

Uttam Distilleries Limited plans to expand its distillery capacity from 40 KLPD to 160 KLPD at a cost of Rs 110 crore, targeting completion by March 2027. Currently running at 95% capacity, the expansion will be financed through internal accruals, promoter contributions, and loans, supporting ethanol production amid government blending initiatives.

The Board of Directors of Uttam Distilleries Limited (UDL), a subsidiary of Uttam Sugar Mills Limited, has approved the increase/expansion of distillery capacity from 40 KLPD to 160 KLPD.

The distillery is currently operating at 95% capacity utilization. The expansion project, estimated to cost Rs 110 crore, is expected to be completed by March 2027. The project will be financed partly through internal accruals, promoter contributions, and loans/borrowings.

Uttam Sugar Mills is engaged in the production of sugar, ethanol, and cogenerated power. The government is encouraging ethanol blending with fuel, as it is eco-friendly and helps save foreign exchange for the country.
