Gohana: Haryana’s Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma announced that the state government is making significant progress in helping sugarcane farmers become self-reliant. As part of efforts to increase farmers’ incomes, initiatives have been taken to set up ethanol plants in all sugar mills across Haryana, with the process already underway.
The Government has been promoting blending of ethanol in petrol under the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme wherein Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) sell ethanol blended with petrol. Like many other states, Haryana also aims to increase ethanol production, and sugar mills are likely to play a key role in this effort.
Minister Sharma inaugurated the 2024-25 crushing season at the Chaudhary Devi Lal Cooperative Sugar Mill in Ahulana (Gohana). He praised the Ahulana sugar mill, calling it a symbol of the hard work and sacrifices of thousands of local farmers.
Sharma further directed the officials to complete payments within a week so that the farmers benefit monetarily. Sharma has also continued working towards overcoming the scarcity of water in Gohana and Baroda so that farmers do not suffer due to insufficient water for their crops.
Chairman of the Haryana Sugar Federation Dharambir Dagar said the government is doing everything to bring modernization to sugar mills in the state.
