Ethanol Policy: Central government’s ethanol policy is a mirage
Pune News : “On one hand, the central government is promoting electric vehicles on non-conventional energy. On the other hand, the policy of ethanol is being implemented. The current ethanol plants are at risk of closure after 10 years. Because of this, the central government’s ethanol policy is a mirage,” said health minister and sugar entrepreneur Tanaji Sawant.
Minister Sawant was speaking as the chief guest at the 68th annual program of the Deccan Sugar Technologists Association (DSTA) on Sunday (24). At this time the president of ‘DSTA’ S. B. Bhad, Vice President S. S. Shirgaonkar, M. K. Patel, S. D. Bhokare, Gauri Pawar, Prakash Naiknaware of National Sugar Association, Director General of ‘VSI’ Sambhaji Kadu and others were present.
Sawant said, “Imperialism has become extinct in cooperative sugar factories . There is a need to take this industry out of the hands of selected imperialists. If the sugar industry is to be run practically, there is a need for highly trained skilled officers and employees.
For this, ‘DSTA’ and ‘VSI’ need to work. Also, there is a need to introduce ‘levy’ method in the price of sugar. Sugar rates should be different for domestic consumption and for commercial consumption. For this, we are constantly demanding from the central government.
Meanwhile, on this occasion the sugar exhibition was inaugurated by Minister Sawant. Also, entrepreneurs, technicians, researchers, farmers who have contributed to the sugar industry were honored with various awards. S. B. Bhad introduced.
