Ethanol Production: Emphasis on ethanol production is beneficial
Sangli News : In view of the restrictions on sugar export from the Centre, it will be beneficial to reduce sugar production and focus on ethanol production. Due to lack of rain this year, sugarcane production has decreased. Factories have to produce more sugar in a shorter period of time without interruption.
The Center is unlikely to issue a license for sugar export till the Lok Sabha elections. Mansingrao Naik, President and MLA of Vishwasrao Naik Factory asserted that the time of trouble has come in the sugar industry.
He was speaking on the occasion of the boiler lighting ceremony of Vishwasrao Naik Cooperative Sugar Factory at Chikhali (Shirala). Vice President Former MLA Babasaheb Patil, President of Vishwas Shikshan Amar Singh Naik, Sunita Naik, Dr. Shimoni Naik was the chief guest.
Naik said that since there is no rain, there is a plan to do more filtration in less days. A separate system for the distillery will distill 7,500 tonnes per day. At present, all the factories are trying to increase the capacity of sieving and distillery.
Director Viraj Naik said that biogas, cogeneration , distillery, filtration systems have been modernized. The focus of the factory is the employee. 10 to 15 percent decrease due to increased diseases on sugarcane, rainfall. The slope will also decrease. The target is 7.5 lakh tonnes of silage during the season. Sugarcane harvesting system has become a serious issue. This year the system is planned with seven harvester machines.
The boiler was lit by President MLA Naik and Sunita Naik. Executive Director Amol Patil, Executive Director Abasaheb Patil of Sahyadri Factory, all directors, account heads, department heads, employees etc. were present.
