EU cuts grain harvest forecast to 278 mln tons


The European Commission has cut its 2025/2026 EU grain production forecast to 278.4 million tonnes, down from 282.9 million. Soft wheat output is now seen at 127.3 million tonnes, corn at 60.1 million. Exports are projected at 45.4 million tonnes, while imports are expected to drop to 25.7 million.
The European Commission has reduced its grain production forecast for the European Union in the 2025/2026 season from 282.9 million tonnes to 278.4 million tonnes. Last season, the EU countries harvested 255.2 million tonnes of grain.
The soft wheat harvest forecast has been reduced from 128.2 million tonnes to 127.3 million tonnes; corn – from 64.6 million tonnes to 60.1 million tonnes. The barley estimate was slightly increased to 53.6 million tonnes.
The European Commission estimates the grain export potential in the current season at 45.4 million tonnes (36.4 million tonnes last season), including 30.7 (25.0) million tonnes of soft and hard wheat.
The need for grain imports is 25.7 (31.8) million tonnes, including 5.4 (10.3) million tonnes of wheat.
