EU grain exports show sharp decline at start of season


In the first two weeks of the 2025/26 season (July 1–13), EU grain exports totaled 682,265 tons—down 63% year-on-year, according to the European Commission. Soft wheat exports fell 78%, with Algeria, Cameroon, and Lebanon as top buyers. Barley exports dropped 26%, mainly to Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia. Corn exports declined 63%.
In the first two weeks of the current season, which began on July 1, 2025, EU countries exported 682.3 thousand tons of grain and processed products, which is much less than in the same period in the 2024/2025 season and in the 2023/2024 season. This was reported by the Zerno On-Line agency with reference to the European Commission.

The main export destinations for soft wheat of European origin in the current season were Algeria (63.0 thousand tons), Cameroon (51.7 thousand tons) and Lebanon (30.0 thousand tons).
The largest buyers of barley were Jordan (99.2 thousand tons), Saudi Arabia (81.3 thousand tons) and Ethiopia (30.0 thousand tons).
