Farmers up their ante against govt for failing to restart Sugarcane Factory event after 5 years
On July 31, sugarcane farmers announced plans to serve a legal notice to the government regarding the stalled reopening of the Sanjeevani Sahakari sugar factory. Closed five years ago with a promise of redevelopment, the government has stated they failed to find a bidder for the project, including ethanol production, despite advertising for three years. Farmers claim they had provided a potential contractor but received no follow-up. The government is now exploring alternative uses for the factory’s land, such as a Truck Terminus, Bio Gas project, and Solar power plant.
