Fiji Farmers union demands sacking of Sugar Minister
The National Farmers Union has demanded the dismissal of Minister for Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, citing conflicts with industry leaders. NFU general secretary Mahendra Chaudhry accused Singh of poor leadership, sacking his Permanent Secretary over a minor issue and clashing with executives. “The industry has lost confidence in the Minister,” Chaudhry said. “He should be sacked.”

NFU general secretary Mahendra Chaudhry claims Minister Singh has been facing “serious personality clashes with industry executives.”
“The other day he publicly castigated the FSC CEO for not cooperating with other industry executives. Now he has sacked his Permanent Secretary, Reshmi Kumar, over a trifling incident to do with communications with the media,” said Mr Chaudhry.
“He wants to dictate to the PSC on who should replace her.”
“He has no idea how to treat staff and talk to people.”
“The industry has simply lost confidence in the Minister.”
“It is the Minister who should be sacked.”
“The sugar industry is not his personal enclave to hire and fire as he pleases.”
