Fiji : Lautoka mill to end crushing season on December 12

Fiji’s Sugar Industry Tribunal ordered Lautoka Mill’s 2025 crushing season to end on 12 December, urging growers to deliver remaining cane by 11 December. The decision followed consultations with industry heads. Once Lautoka shuts, Ba’s Rarawai mill will be the only mill still operating for the remainder of the season.

The Sugar Industry Tribunal has ordered the termination of the 2025 crushing season at the Lautoka Mill effective Friday, 12 December 2025.

Tribunal head Semi Leweniqila issued the directive after consultations with the Sugar Cane Growers Council CEO and the Fiji Sugar Corporation CEO.

In announcing the order, the Tribunal urged all growers and harvesting gangs supplying the Lautoka Mill to make every effort to harvest and deliver all remaining cane by Thursday, 11 December 2025.

Registrar of the Tribunal, Timothy Brown, issued the notice today.

The Rarawai mill in Ba will be the only mill left operating after Lautoka closes.
