Fueling India’s green revolution: At 1st Indian Express roundtable, industry titans, experts deliberate on roadmap ahead

The Express Group, in a stride towards fostering India’s transition to a sustainable bio-based circular economy, Tuesday hosted its inaugural roundtable on biofuels bringing on one platform industry stalwarts, subject matter experts, and policymakers to deliberate on the roadmap ahead.

The central theme of the discussion revolved around the goal of achieving a 20% blending of ethanol in petrol and 5% blending of biodiesel in diesel by the year 2030.

The first session on ‘Navigating the Bio-Based Circular Economy’ witnessed an engaging and insightful discussion featuring prominent figures in the field.

Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director of Punjab State Council for Science & Technology and Member Secretary of Punjab Biodiversity Board, along with A Venu Prasad, former special chief secretary to the Punjab Chief Minister and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of PSTCL, shared their valuable perspectives. Biswajit Dutta, vice-president of corporate affairs, SAEL, Anirudh Tiwari, Director General of Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, and Vivek Verma, MD, SEDL, contributed with their insights.

The second session on ‘Unpacking the Significance, Challenges, and Opportunities of Biofuels in India’ delved into the critical aspects of biofuel adoption in India. Esteemed scientists and subject matter experts, including Dr JS Samra, senior advisor at CRRID, and Dr Navindu Gupta, principal scientist at ICAR-IARI, shed light on the complexities of biodiesel blending and grain-based ethanol production.
