With sugar consumption reaching 290 lakh metric tons (MT) against a production of 330 lakh MT, the nation is well-positioned to leverage its agricultural output for further advancements in ethanol production. As India looks beyond 2025, the strategic planning for ethanol blending above 20% becomes crucial. This initiative not only aims to enhance energy security but also to support the agricultural sector, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote economic growth.
