Experts predict a positive market trend due to the upcoming summer and festive seasons, along with the end of the crushing season, which is expected to support sugar prices.

In an announcement on February 25, the Food Ministry allocated a monthly sugar quota of 23 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for March 2025, which is lower than the quota allocated in March 2024.

In March 2024, the government had allocated a monthly sugar quota of 23.5 LMT for domestic sale.

For February 2025, the government allocated a sugar quota of 22.5 LMT.

According to market experts, with the commencement of the summer and festive seasons ahead, positive sentiment will continue in the domestic market. The end of the sugar mills’ crushing season will also support the market.
