Govt permits to import 49,000 tonnes boiled rice
The government has approved 30 entities and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice, excluding aromatic varieties, and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice. The Ministry of Food issued a circular on Thursday, stipulating that imported rice must be marketed in Bangladesh by April 25th. Furthermore, importers are required to sell the rice in its original imported sacks and are prohibited from repackaging it under their own branding.
The government has allowed 30 organisations and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (except aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice into the country.
The Ministry of Food issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
According to the circular, the importers have to market the rice in Bangladesh by 25 April.
The imported rice cannot be repackaged in the name of the organisations rather must be sold in imported sacks, it added.
